National Director of Operations, Outpatient Eating Disorder

Dawn Delgado, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, and an EMDR trained trauma specialist. She holds both her CEDS, Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and CEDS-S Supervisor designation through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals.  Dawn has dedicated herself to working with adolescents and adults recovering from eating disorders and co-occurring mental health issues for over 15 years.

In addition, to her lengthy tenure at Center For Discovery, she has directed and been instrumental in developing residential, partial hospitalization/day treatment, intensive outpatient, and transitional living programs. Trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), she incorporates this form of trauma treatment in her private practice, Inspire Evolve, and into the clinical programming at Center For Discovery.  An active member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals (IAEDP), she is a former chair member of the Los Angeles chapter. Dawn has a passion for yoga and travel and has served as a consultant to clinics and hospitals in Bali, Singapore, Java, and Dubai.

WEST COAST ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF EATING DISORDER OUTPATIENT SERVICES

Jessica Harris graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor’s of Art in Psychology and a minor in Child Development. She obtained her Masters in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California. Over the past 5 years, she has experience working with children, adolescents and adults in various settings. Prior to joining the Center For Discovery team, Jessica worked as the Program Manager of a Residential Treatment Center treating adult women with eating disorders.

She has additional experience working with eating disorders at the inpatient, partial and outpatient level of care treating adult and adolescent men and women. During her graduate studies, Jessica worked as a developmental therapist with special needs children and their families assisting them in supporting their child’s communication, relational and social skills needs.  Jessica uses a mixture of cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems therapy, narrative therapy and solution focused therapy.  She is passionate about providing individualized and group support in the IOP setting.

West Coast Supervisor of Outpatient Dietary Services

Kacy earned her bachelor’s of science in Clinical Nutrition and minor in Psychology from the University of New Jersey, Davis and went on to earn her master’s of science in Family and Consumer Sciences, Nutrition from New Jersey State University Northridge. To complement her education in nutrition, Kacy obtained a certificate in personal training from the American Council on Exercise.

Essentially by accident Kacy found a way to combine all her areas of interest and education when she began working as a Diet Tech in 2009 at A New Journey Eating Disorder Center. Once Kacy completed her dietetic internship through CSUN, she became a Registered Dietitian at ANJ and worked with adults and adolescents at the intensive outpatient (IOP) and partial day treatment (PDT) levels of care. In Early 2014 Kacy began working Center For Discovery where she now finds fulfilment working in adolescent residential and adult Outpatient eating disorder treatment. Kacy also maintains a private practice, The Shameless Eater, in Westwood, Ca and is serving as secretary of Behavioral Health and Nutrition dietetic practice group for the 2014-2016 term.

Regional Director- OP

Maureen Peterson is the NorthWestern Outpatient Regional Director and Program Director at Center For Discovery Tacoma OP treating adolescents, adults, and families impacted by eating disorders. Maureen is a licensed mental health counselor and earned her BA  in Psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and her MA in Counseling Psychology from Saint Martin’s University. She also completed a certificate program in The Long Term Treatment of Psychiatric Disorders through the University of Washington School of Social Work. Maureen has been working in the mental health field since 1991 and has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders since 1996. She is a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist and Supervisor through the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals. In 2011, Maureen received the “Spirit of the Alliance” award through the Alliance for Families, a national organization. She is passionate about community service, and enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

Program Director

Angela Loney is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, as well as a National Board Certified Counselor, who holds a Master of Arts in Education from Seattle University. She earned her BA in Speech Communications with a minor in Leadership Studies from Whitworth University and worked in Marketing Communications and Human Resources before transitioning to mental health. Her clinical work has been focused on depression, anxiety, eating disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, family systems, and relationship building. Angela has experience working with children, youth, adults, couples, & families from diverse backgrounds and is passionate about helping people discover their unique view of the world and the invaluable gifts they can contribute.

Elina Durchman, MD

Psychiatrist

Dr. Elina Durchman graduated from University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her residency in General Psychiatry followed by a fellowship in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at University of Washington. She trained in multiple settings including the juvenile justice system, long-term residential treatment and inpatient eating disorder treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. Dr. Durchman also completed a fellowship in Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) at the University of Washington. As an avid child mental health advocate, she has been a member of the executive committee of the Washington State Council of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry since 2010 and is currently serving as the president of the organization. Dr. Durchman believes in a family oriented approach to treatment and in empowering clients to gain control of their own well being as well as using an evidence-based treatment approach. Dr. Durchman provides psychiatric services to both teens and adults at Center For Discovery’s residential eating disorder programs in both Edmonds and Bellevue.

Mimosa Collins, RD

Registered Dietitian

Mimosa received her degree in dietetics from the University of Vermont after living with a host family in Peru where she experienced a different kind of relationship to food through another culture. This trip compelled her to explore how we develop behaviors around food and when necessary, how to change them. After receiving her degree, Mimosa taught behavior change in a variety of settings, from community kitchens and farm-to-table experiences to high school cooking clubs and 1:1 counseling sessions. In addition to her license as a dietitian, Mimosa has been trained in Motivational Interviewing (MI), is a Be Body Positive Facilitator, and is currently working toward certification as a CEDRD and undergoing training in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. Throughout her 9 years providing nutrition counseling and education, Mimosa has become a Health at Every Size (TM) provider and a passionate advocate for body and size diversity. Mimosa is honored to work alongside clients and families in their efforts to live a more gratifying and fulfilling life.

Stephanie got her bachelor’s degree in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, CT. She completed her dietetic internship with Sodexo Dietetic Internships with a concentration in culinary arts. She has experience with infants, children, and young families, and is happy to continue to promote a healthy relationship with food at all stages of life.
Stephanie’s interest in food began early in life, spending a lot of her childhood around industrial kitchens and her parents catering business. She went on to get training in a farm kitchen, running their production kitchen and providing nutrition education in farm-to-table cooking classes. She’s looking forward to being on the Center for Discovery Bellevue Outpatient team, to continue to promote a healthy and enjoyable relationship with food.

Chloe has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota. She moved to the Seattle area for graduate school, where she is pursuing her Master’s degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. She loves working at Center for Discovery with both adults and adolescents. She enjoys leading nutrition education groups as well as cooking groups where she teaches clients useful skills and how to have fun in the kitchen!

I graduated from Portland State University in the summer of 2018 with my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Public Health with the concentration of Community Health Education. I got my 200 hour registered yoga teacher certification in April of 2017 and have been teaching since. Sharing the mind and body connection through breath and movement has been a major part of my life. My goal is to get my masters in counseling in the next few years and expand my skill set in different ways so I can help others achieve this mind and body connection.

Nicole R. Buckley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate who holds a Master’s degree in Professional Counseling from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor’s in Psychology from Western Illinois University.  She has over 8 years of experience working with adolescents, young adults, adults and their families.  Areas of interest and experience include working with clients with academic underachievement, difficulties in college, mood disorders, psychiatric disorders, suicidal ideation, chemical dependency, co-occurring disorders, trauma, P.T.S.D., and most recently has been working with young adults with eating disorders.

Kara graduated from Western Washington University with a Bachelor’s in Human Services.  She has a background in CBT, positive psychology, and various mindfulness practices.  Her focus is on providing compassionate, holistic care for all clients, including their support people.  Kara is excited to be part of a team who can provide integrative support and coaching for those on their journey of eating disorder recovery.

Jenni Scharf is the Clinical Outreach Supervisor and Staff Recruitment Representative at Center For Discovery in the Northwest treating adolescents, adults and families impacted by eating disorders. Jenni earned her degree in Journalism, with an emphasis in Management from Western Washington University. Jenni has been working in healthcare marketing since 2001 and has held seats on 4 separate Pacific Northwest iaedp chapter boards. Jenni loves being a resource for professionals. She is a wife and mom to three kids and is passionate about helping families find the recovery they need to be healthy, whole and happy once again.
